Lana Collier

In 2009, Lana Collier received her Bachelors in Fine Art  as a glass major, from the Alberta College of Art + Design. In January 2011 Collier established her studio business Wildfire Glassworks. As an emerging artist Collier’s accomplishments show signs of convincing trajectory including several merit-based scholarships awarded throughout her education, and exhibition opportunities in both Canada and the USA. As a continued  investment in her career opportunities and networking, Collier engages the international glass community on a regular basis, traveling to New York, Seattle, and Portland for glass conferences, glass couture shows, and production work. An active participant in the burgeoning “Glass Couture” art movement Collier  has worked with the founder Laura Donifer, participating as an artist/designer in several shows including Montreal and Toledo. Collier’s experience participating in  these other productions resulted in Lana’s curating of the 2013 BURST: glass couture runway celebration.

Lana Collier’s artistic voice evokes notions of nature, and the whimsical world of daydreams; her work captivates the imagination and often the spirit of positivity through use of colour. Collier’s inspiration comes from an internal place, drawing personally from spirit, home and connection. She believes that sculpture should challenge perspective and bring to the surface ideas and emotions held closely, which are brought to bear in moments of inner contemplation. She has traveled to New York, Seattle, Portland and Montreal for glass conferences, fashion shows and production glass work. Currently, Collier maintians her studio practice in Calgary Alberta.
